Annotation Parameters dialog

A right click in the interface opens the Annotation Parameters dialog when the Place Door ID and Place Window ID tools are active.

Annotation parameter settings help you customize door and window identification numbers, also referred to as door and window ID number bubbles.

An identification number is usually a combination of letters and numbers. For example when referring to the identification number 1-101A, the number 1 identifies the floor of a building, the number 101 identifies the building space containing the door or window, and the letter A identifies the door or window as the first, second, or third door or window within the space. This is by no means the only method to rank order characters for use in identification numbers. This utility provides the flexibility for firms to compose ID numbers in any fashion to meet their needs.

When using this utility in conjunction with the Place Door ID and Place Window ID tools, an ID number bubble is created if an identification symbol does not exist. If an identification symbol does exist, then only the text is updated. Identification number information is entered in the DataGroup System as door and window instance data. If an existing ID bubble is recorded in DataGroup System, the door and window instance data is updated when the ID number bubble is replaced.
SettingDescription
Next Number Sets the next numeric, alpha, or alpha numeric number for door and window ID bubbles. This can contain a combination of numbers and text which automatically increment to the next bubble based on the parameter settings.
Increment Sets the increment value and activates increment of numeric and alpha characters. If multiple occurrences of either or both (numeric and alpha characters) are specified, then only the right end of the ID annotation increments. For example:
  • Based on an increment value of 1, and when the Numeric Character setting is on, 101-A increments to 102-A and 103-A consecutively.
  • Based on an increment value of 1, and when the Alpha Character setting is on, 101-A increments to 101-B and 101-C consecutively.
  • Based on an increment value of 1, and when the Alpha Character setting is on, A101-A increments to A101-B and A101-C consecutively.
  • Based on an increment value of 1, and when the Numeric Character setting is on, A101-A increments to A102-A and A103-A consecutively.
Numeric Character Numeric characters increment from the value set in the Next Number field when on.
Alpha Character Alpha characters increment from the value set in the Next Number field when on.
By Sets the value by which numeric and alpha characters increment.
OK Activates new settings entries and closes the dialog.
Cancel Discards new settings entries and/or closes the dialog.
